Spencer L. Webb, President, AntennaSys, Inc.

Spencer L. Webb is the President of AntennaSys, Inc., an accomplished antenna consultant, machinist, and inventor with a wide-ranging background that spans across many different applications of electrical engineering. He is the named inventor on over seventeen U.S. patents and multiple international patents.

An alumnus of MIT (1979-1983), where he studied electrical engineering, Spencer spent the early part of his career as an analog circuit design engineer. His passion for antennas led him to establish his antenna consulting business in 1991. Notably, he worked on low-earth-orbit satellite ground-station communications antennas for some groundbreaking email-over-satellite projects. His innovations in this field led to a tripling of data throughput for stations located in Africa.

Spencer's work in covert electronics for law enforcement and intelligence began in 1994 at Dynatech Tactical Communications, where he was the Senior Antenna Engineer. He was responsible for creating efficient and innovative antenna designs for various systems. He left DTC in 2000 to start AntennaSys, Inc., with DTC becoming one of its first clients.

With AntennaSys, Spencer continued his work on antennas for various applications, including satellite communications, GPS, law enforcement surveillance, wireless video, and tracking. His expertise includes the design of antennas in the vicinity of the human body, such as on-body devices and in-body implants. As a part of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, he played a pivotal role in designing a 40-pound satellite ground station, replacing a 400-pound suite of equipment.

As an experienced trainer, Spencer is highly respected by the U.S. Military for his training in the area of improvised antennas, Satellite Communication (SATCOM), and Radio Frequency (RF) propagation.

Beyond his professional life, Spencer is a dedicated family man. He's a proud husband and father to two kids who share his love for tinkering, as evidenced by their fully-equipped garage machine shop. Outside of work, he's an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator, licensed since 1977, with the callsign W2SW. He's also an avid photographer, competitive shooter, private pilot (PP-SEL, Glider, Instrument Airplane), and a 4th-degree Black Belt and Master Instructor in Taekwondo (USTIU, WTF, Kukkiwon). An MIT Pistol Team alumnus, he continues to embrace challenges both in and out of the professional sphere.

Mark R. DeLuca, Principal Antenna Engineer / Program Manager

As a senior design engineer, Mark is responsible for supporting new product capture and design efforts. He works with the company’s president on the overall technology strategy tapping into his experience in large system and array architectures. He has designed over 50 array and standalone radiators, array diagnostic and calibration systems, developed antenna system requirements, and has an extensive microwave metrology background.

Mark’s main area of interest involves working dynamically with a customer to start with overall system needs and bringing a solution into reality. This typically involves the use of AntennaSys' electromagnetic field simulation tools, homegrown analysis scripts, and of course rapid prototyping and test.

Mark holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from Merrimack College and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  Mark is a named inventor on 3 patents (but is working on catching up to Spencer’s 17).

Outside of AntennaSys Mark moonlights for a taxi service named "Fatherhood", where he shuttles his two terrific children from event to event. They share his love of running, golfing, the great outdoors, and a certain Border-Collie Lab mix named Bailey!
